Why the National Literacy Trust?

We are driven by our belief that the ability to communicate is a fundamental right. We believe that society will only be fair when everyone has the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills they need to fulfil their potential. By working with us, you can help to transform lives through literacy.

We are passionate about empowering people through literacy. In our work we remain focused on the people whose lives can be most positively transformed through improved reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

At the National Literacy Trust, we need staff who are passionate about literacy and who believe, as we do, that low levels of literacy are greatly responsible for the inequality that thwarts our society.

Each member of our team is responsible for creating a climate of trust in which everyone feels confident to suggest ideas for improvement or change. We take time to evaluate our work and recognise our successes. As individuals, we are confident in our own ability and encouraging to others.
