Sport
Our research shows that many people from disadvantaged communities do not see literacy as relevant to their lives. This is why we work to tap into the aspirations and interests of children and adults in order to engage them with literacy. Much of our activity is focused on football, the UK's most popular sport. Schools, libraries and sports clubs can make use of our free downloadable resources and register to access free areas of our website and receive our monthly email newsletter.
We plan to expand our hugely popular family reading project to allow more people to participate. The first 1,000 settings that meet our criteria will be able to take part free of charge.
Tom Palmer's writing blog - How I write: how you write.
Over the next year, Puffin author Tom Palmer will be writing a weekly term-time blog for schools, about the writing of his series of football books, The Squad. Right now, he is tweeting football reading tips in the run up to the season's start.

The National Literacy Trust has worked in partnership with the football community for many years, and produced a range of free resources that use the motivational power of football to engage reluctant readers.
