On Tuesday 24 October 2023, the National Literacy Trust published "Building Firm Foundations: A Report on Early Language and Communication Policy", with the support of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Literacy.
We are calling for:
- A long-term and evidence-based approach to investment.
- A strategic focus on the home learning environment.
- More emphasis on children’s early education outcomes.
- Additional financial support for disadvantaged children and families.
The APPG on Literacy, which re-launched in June 2023, is committed to ensuring parliamentary knowledge and support for the latest research, policy, and best practice in the field of literacy.
