Schools

Developing a whole school culture of reading for enjoyment is key to improving children’s literacy. The Young Readers Programme provides training, resources and support to help schools and teachers feel better equipped to promote reading for enjoyment.

Schools taking part in the programme will receive:

  • a training session for nominated Project Coordinators who will lead the project in school (usually class teachers, literacy coordinators or school librarians)
  • a handbook containing all the information and guidance you need to deliver Young Readers events in your school
  • resources focusing on reading for enjoyment
  • membership of the National Literacy Trust network for five members of staff, providing access to tools and resources to help embed a whole school approach to reading for enjoyment
  • ongoing email and phone support, for the duration of the project, from a Project Manager at the National Literacy Trust

If you are a Young Readers Programme school please log in using your Network membership details. You will then be able to access all of the links, resources and suggested activities for the project.
