Tom Palmer's World Cup journey
Posted by Tom Palmer
Monday 7 June, one in the morning, Plymouth.
I have just finished writing the writing exercise for schools. That after driving 350 miles from Leeds to Plymouth. I am here to talk in libraries.
The good thing about the World Cup is that radio is all about football at the moment. So I barely noticed Birmingham and Bristol as I drove the length of the country.
I normally travel by train, but, the only way I could get to see my daughter dressed as a monkey, dancing on a stage at 6pm in Yorkshire last night and be in Plymouth for 9am this morning was to drive.
But I really should go to bed.
It is sad about Rio's injury. I think we will suffer at the back now. Terry will be more hesitant with a defensive partner he does not know so well.
I had some good ideas for the live World Cup story on the drive. I am thinking lions and a crazed old enemy. But we'll see what happens tomorrow.
