Where partnerships have been successfully created between the library service and Skills for Life providers, reading for pleasure has helped to motivate adult learners. Below is a range of case studies illustrating the Vital Link approach.

NB. The Vital Link recognises that a number of terms are in use denoting literacy and numeracy needs, including "Basic skills" "Essential skills" and "Skills for Life". While some of these have defined meanings, providers and libraries have sometimes used them interchangeably in these case studies.
