As the RaW campaign progresses, libraries have growing
confidence about 'what works'. Successful models for activities
and events are developing around the country and library
authorities are learning from each other. Library staff
are able to share good practice for RaW through regional
reader development networks and other support structures
linked to the BBC and libraries partnership.
You can now submit your reports and pictures direct to the BBC RaW team via the RaW website using the online form at www.bbc.co.uk/raw/campaignpartners/ideasbank/ This is a great way of promoting libraries’ contribution to the campaign so please be sure to take up the opportunity. If you have any queries about this process, please get in touch with genevieve.clarke@readingagency.org.uk

Libraries
have been integrating the new focus on families into their
regular activity with parents and children such as Storytime,
Baby Bounce and Rhyme and support for Bookstart and Sure
Start. These provide an excellent opportunity to use the
new family pack Max and Lara's Amazing Travelling Space
Circus, copies of which have been made available for every
library.
There have also been some great links with local radio.
Libraries in the East of England are linking with their
local stations to promote storytelling sessions as part
of a region-wide Storytelling Festival. Radio stations in
the East Midlands have been running a bedtime story competition
and Radio London has featured a 60-second story competition.
And radio and regional TV have covered a series of roadshows
in Reading, Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke, all
involving local library services. Click here to see the
promotional material Suffolk
has produced for its family activities.
