Training from ROWA for library staff

Basic Skills Awareness Raising Training

ROWA offers workplace training delivered in libraries, tailored especially for library staff. The training aims to provide staff with information on:

  • Skills for Life initiatives
  • Basic skills in general
  • Basic skills learners in particular
  • How staff can identify someone who may have basic skills needs
  • How staff can help them meet those needs through good customer care, resources, signposting etc.

Course duration: 4 hours
The course takes the form of demonstration, discussion and audience activities, plus session Resource Pack to take away

Basic Skills Stock Training
Workplace training delivered in libraries, tailored especially for library staff. The training aims to boost staff knowledge and confidence about basic skills learner needs and the support which staff can give to members of the public through library stock, resources and reader development activity. Includes background to Skills for Life initiatives.

Course duration: 4 hours
The course takes the form of demonstration, discussion, audience activities and group work involving the stock at that library.
