Tell Me a Story

Did your parents read with you when you were growing up?

Sharing stories and reading together as a family are vital to the development of a child’s literacy skills, yet nearly one in four children do not have a book of their own. Without adequate literacy skills a child is less likely to succeed at school and to become a happy and confident young person.

Our Tell Me a Story campaign is raising awareness that every child has the right to share stories and develop the skills they need for their future.

We need to raise funds to support children in disadvantaged areas by helping them to acquire the skills they need to develop as a reader and giving them free books to take home, and to help parents to support their children’s literacy. £30 can support the National Literacy Trust in ensuring a child hears stories and has free books to keep.

Together we can boost life chances for every child.
