Thanks to everyone who took part in our online website survey. Here are
the results.
- Between November 2004 and February 2005, 99 people responded to our
online survey giving their views on the usefulness of our website.
- The majority of respondents (36%) found the TTYB website through publications
such as Tesco Baby and Toddler magazine and Nursery World. 24% came
through the National Literacy Trust site and 15% through a link from
another website.
- Most respondents (76%) were first time visitors. 13% visit the TTYB
site a few times a month.
- 71% spend longer than 5 minute looking at the site per visit; 35%
said they spend more than 10 minutes viewing the site which suggests
they find it interesting and easy to navigate.
- The majority of respondents (89%) said they find the site useful,
with 59% saying they find it very useful. Only one person ticked the
'not very useful' box. (10% answered non-applicable possibly because
they were first time visitors.)
- There was an even spread of interest in the different sections of
the site but 71% were particularly interested in issues and research,
69% in resources and 67% in the section for parents.
- 42 respondents described themselves as parents, 35 as teachers or
tutors and 17 ticked the 'other' box, describing themselves in the main
as librarians, grandparents and childminders.
- 46% of respondents have recommended the site to others.
Here's a sample of what you said about our site:
- I think this site will be useful for my display work at the hospital
for health initiatives for parents who frequent our ward so thank you
and good luck for the future I look forward to visiting again.
- I am an early years student doing a project on the importance of early
intervention in speech and language difficulties. I have spent hours
looking for information. Today I discovered your site and it appears
to have the majority of information I need. Thank you.
- A really good way of finding up-to-date information and ideas for
my own use and to share with colleagues and parents. Thank you!
- Brilliant resource - I find the site really useful for finding out
what is going on in other areas - has given me a range of ideas for
things I can establish as part of our local sure start programme.
- Wonderfully informative and easy to navigate as it is.
Thanks to all those who gave ideas on how we can improve and promote
our site. Here's a sample of suggestions which we will certainly take into
account.
- A list of books parents could read with their babies which is continually
updated would be helpful.
- Install a refer a friend option to help promote the site
- More print out sheets to pass to parents, with examples of activities
to do with their children. Also activities which can be used at nursery.
- Please keep providing free downloads, it encourages parents to visit
the site & means we can spread the word without it costing us an organisation
lots of money to buy expensive publications. The leaflets are very good
but perhaps you could also provide a version of each which is simplified
into important bullet points/visual clues for parents/carers that have
low level literacy skills and are turned off by large chunks of text.
Many thanks.
- The downloads are particularly use to give to parents as they are
seen as important documents that they should keep and use.
