  • Early Years 2007 catalogue from Learning and Teaching Scotland. The 2007 Early Years Resource Catalogue from Learning and Teaching Scotland is now available online and free to download. The catalogue has a selection of publications, software, video and online resources that have been developed specifically for early education. New resources featured include the Self-assessment Toolkit for Early Years and the updated and revised edition of the popular Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Years Education.

  • Inspiring Creativity & Imagination. An online resource from Sure Start designed to help anyone working with young children transform their space into somewhere that stimulates curiosity, imagination and creativity. The guide includes 12 examples of real projects from early years settings, and is intended for anyone working with young children in parent-toddler groups, nurseries and reception classes, playgroups, Sure Start Children's Centres, or a childminding setting. The projects don't need a lot of room, time or money, just a willingness to experiment. To download the guide go to www.surestart.gov.uk

  • Making their day - Providing for two-year-olds in mixed-age settings is specialised guidance that has been published by the Pre-School Learning Alliance. It has been developed to address practitioners' concerns that two-year-olds have so far been overlooked. It aims to fill a gap in resources specific to this age group and help pre-schools and full daycare settings to develop good practice with children from two to five years old. The guidance can be ordered from www.pre-school.org.uk or by calling 0870 603 0062 quoting A082.

  • Teachers' TV Channel is running a week of programmes with an early years theme from 16 January 2006. There will be a range of shows for early years practitioners, including two new six-part series. Early Years in Action will include programmes on the learning environment, phonics, and listening skills. Early Years Workshop will cover the work of childminders, nursery and reception staff. Teachers' TV can be seen on Freeview 88. Sky Guide 592, ntl 803, Telewest 240, Homechoice 845 or KIT 70.
