  • Communication Disability and Literacy Difficulties is part of the I CAN Talk series of papers exploring contemporary issues in children's communication development and disability. It reviews current research and literature on communication disability and literacy difficulties and offer practical evidence-based solutions to inform and support practitioners, parents and policy makers. It can be downloaded from the I CAN website at www.ican.org.uk

  • Information for parents - speech and language difficulties. The Early Support Programme has brought out this new guide for parents who suspect that their child is struggling to learn or talk, or have recently been told that their child will have difficulties with communication. It can be downloaded at www.earlysupport.org.uk

  • Language Development, Activities For Home (2004), Marion Nash and Jackie Lowe, David Fulton Publishers. This book is part of the Spiral series and includes a variety of play-based activities that support the key language skills being developed in school. The activities also stand alone as ways of having fun while consolidating language skills at home and in the home environment.   • Talking Point is a new website developed in partnership between the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, I CAN and AFASIC to provide a national online information service for parents and professionals on the needs of children and young people who have speech and language difficulties.
