  • amazing babyT books come in three distinctive formats, all created with the developing needs of babies in mind. There are chunky board books for 3-6 months (Clever Colour, Five Fish, Little Big, Round Square), novelty board books for 6-9 months (with foil, and with mirrors) and larger activity board books for 12-24 months.   • Baby says... is a series of board books with flaps giving words and actions to help babies to express themselves. Baby Says Hello, Baby Says Bye-Bye, Baby Says Love You and Baby Says Hooray are by Opal Dunn and Angie Sage (Hodder Children's Books).

  • BBC's CBeebies Story Circle is a virtual reading group for the under fives. There are stories to read and hear on line, as well as further reading suggestions and downloadable activities and resources to enhance the storytelling experience.   • "Listening, talking, loving and sharing - more things to do with books" - Bookstart's new booklet for parents for children aged eighteen months, showing how books can be used creatively to help build language skills, social skills and literacy skills. £2.   • Ladybird's Talkabouts books have simple questions and bold illustrations to encourage a range of pre-reading activities such as matching, story telling and counting. Titles include Building Site, Wild Animals, On the Farm, People I like, Cars and Busy Town. Also look out for Ladybird's Toddler Talk series of index board books, and Look and Talk, where you put a photo of your child right into the book.

  • The Look! I'm talking DVDs and book are part of the Baby Senses range from Make Believe Ideas that have been developed in conjunction with early learning specialists. The DVDs, presented by Jane Horrocks, jointly include 12 short films to cover each of the key speech sounds. They feature a group of children taking part in a range of activities and encourage viewers to take part. The accompanying interactive book has a facility for recording sounds and playing them back.
