Talk To Your Baby conference 2008
Communication: the child's perspective


A conference to consider early communication issues from a young child's perspective, with the help of specialist practitioners and academics

Speakers include:

  • John Bercow, MP, speaking about the Bercow Review of services for Children and Young People (0-19) with Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Dr Suzanne Zeedyk, University of Dundee presenting her findings from the pilot buggy research project, looking at the impact of buggies that let the baby face towards or away from the adult
  • Elizabeth Jarman talking about the importance of communication friendly spaces
  • Lucy Williams, project manager of the Young Children’s Voices Network at the National Children’s Bureau, discussing recent work on the value of listening to young children
  • Local programmes showcasing innovative early communication work

Anyone working with families with young children: early years practitioners, speech and language therapists, teachers, nursery staff, family literacy professionals, midwives and health visitors, early years librarians, educational and clinical psychologists
