Talking to your child doesn't need to be another chore to add to a long list. Talking can fit easily into your daily routine. Talk about the things you see when you're on the bus, walking to the shops, at the supermarket or during bath time. You could sing or recite a nursery rhyme to your baby when changing her nappy, or read a book together.

Try to reduce the amount of questions you ask your child. Instead, tell her about things, especially the things she shows an interest in, like a favourite toy.

The five methods of language learning
Experts agree that your child will learn language best when you name things, describe things, compare things, explain things and give directions to your child.
