A resource for practitioners with ideas and tips on how to get involved with the 2008 National Year of Reading (NYR). It includes two resources for parents, incorporating TTYB's popular Quick Tips,
Sharing books with your baby.

Speaking and listening skills are vital building blocks for learning to read. Many schemes, such as Bookstart and local library initiatives already engage the early years sector in reading. The NYR is a great opportunity to celebrate and develop work further to involve young children and their community in imaginative and inspiring activities centred around books.
The NYR is a year-long celebration of reading in all its forms and is being run by a consortium of organisations, led by the NLT and the Reading Agency.
