Fit4Reading in Stockport local authority

The Fit 4 Reading scheme is run by Stockport local authority with secondary schools in the area. It is a reading project which sees Year 10 pupils trained as reading coaches to enable them to help Level 3 Year 7 pupils improve and enjoy their reading. The sessions are run once a week before school and start with a short sports session, run by the mentors, followed by breakfast and then a paired reading session. Fit 4 Reading has a partner scheme focusing on numeracy called Fit 4 Figures. Both are supported by local football clubs. This film outlines how the schemes work and their impact on pupils.
