Play's the thing

The Portsmouth Play Development Project, founded by the Pre-school Learning Alliance and Sure Start, is run by a team of play workers who visit families in their home and lead play sessions, aiming to encourage parents to bond with their children through play and thus improve early learning and social mobility. Referrals come from health visitors, pre-schools and nurseries, as well as social services, behavioural specialists and parents and carers.
