Volunteering opportunities

We provide a range of volunteering opportunities for our corporate partners.

Improve communication skills for the workplace

Help young people develop their communication skills for the workplace through our innovative and exciting Words for Work programme. Volunteers work with secondary school pupils to teach them about different kinds of communication and help them improve their confidence. Workshops also deal with particular scenarios, including interviews and presentations.

The programme is delivered through six weekly sessions, each lasting an hour and a half. A half-day training session is provided for volunteers.

Find out more about Words for Work, or contact Lucy Kerrigan for details of volunteering opportunities in your area. Email lucy.kerrigan@literacytrust.org.uk.

Support enjoyment of reading

Motivate children to read for pleasure through fun events and reading activities, as part of our Young Readers Programme. Targeted children take part in three events during the school year, so this is a great one-off or short-term volunteering opportunity.

Find out more about the Young Readers Programme, or contact Lorna Taylor to discuss opportunities for running the programme in a school near you. Email lorna.taylor@literacytrust.org.uk.

Provide pro bono support

If you think that you or your staff have skills and experience that could benefit the National Literacy Trust, we'd love to hear from you. Email lorna.taylor@literacytrust.org.uk.
