Slaughter and May sponsors our Annual Literacy Survey, the only national large-scale survey of literacy behaviours, attitudes and enjoyment levels and their links to attainment.
Research and impact underpins everything that we do at the National Literacy Trust.
Our unique Annual Literacy Survey reaches 134,000 children and young people aged 8 to 18 from across the UK. The data underpins our work in disadvantaged schools and communities and provides key evidence that contributes to the national conversation around literacy attitudes and behaviours.
We also work with Slaughter and May in their local community of Islington to encourage over 100 children to read for enjoyment.

If you’re a lawyer, you’re only too aware of the importance of being able to express yourself clearly. Words are the tools of our trade. Literacy is also absolutely key to social mobility and to individuals reaching their full potential; it all hinges on the ability of people to communicate both orally and in written form in a way that enables them to reach out. This is why we have chosen the National Literacy Trust as one of our national charity partners and they have been great.”
