We have an ambitious vision for secondary school improvement, with literacy as its driver. Our two school improvement programmes, the Literacy for Life and the Oxfordshire Gaining Momentum Campaign, are working with secondary schools to achieve this vision.

Academies ProgrammeLiteracy for Life

This programme works with six academies sponsored by the Aldridge Foundation and Ormiston Academies Trust to systematically embed literacy across the academies and ultimately the whole chain. We will improve teaching and learning for literacy and accredit literacy leadership in partnership with a university.The programme is funded by the JJ Charitable Trust. Find out more

Gaining Momentum

Oxfordshire Gaining Momentum Campaign

We are working in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council to improve literacy skills amongst children in years 7 and 8 at selected Oxfordshire secondary schools. We will do this by supporting teachers and literacy leaders through training, coaching and facilitating collaboration. Find out more


Our network

Learning from the school improvement programmes and case studies about the achievements of participants will be shared with members of our network. The National Literacy Trust Network supports schools to develop outstanding literacy provision by providing literacy leaders with tools, resources and inspiration. Find out more and join


Outstanding Literacy Leadership CPD

Our CPD programmes for primary schools supports teachers to engage with research, and develop as action researchers, in order to improve literacy outcomes for pupils.
