RIF, UK was
established in 1996, following the success of RIF,
Inc in the USA. Since then, RIF has given more than 750,000
books to over a quarter of a million children living in disadvantaged
areas. By promoting reading for pleasure, RIF encourages life-long
reading and helps address the cycle of underachievement. You will find RIF projects in all sorts of places - schools,
nurseries, libraries, foster homes, football clubs... anywhere,
in fact, where there are children.
RIF trains and supports teachers, librarians, community workers and others to coordinate local literacy projects that promote the fun of reading, the importance of book choice and the benefits of families sharing books at home. Local coordinators' feedback is extremely positive, endorsing RIF's success in motivating children to read.
By working in partnership, RIF reaches a diverse range of
organisations and local children. Indeed, RIF couldn't be
the success it is without the invaluable work of our local
coordinators, the generosity of our funders and Browns Books for Students (BBfS) and the support of major children's
publishers.
The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity and relies on
voluntary contributions. If you have found our website useful, please consider making a donation. Every penny helps.
