Picture the Poet
Picture the Poet was a three-year project in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery and Apples and Snakes, to support the teaching of creative poetry writing at Key Stages 2 and 3.
We're pleased to make the teaching resource available for you to download here. The resource pack complements the Picture the Poet exhibition, a selection of outstanding photographic portraits of poets from the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection, and offers a wide range of standalone poetry activities for the classroom. You can access all the portraits via the National Portrait Gallery website.
We're delighted to be able to offer a supplementary resource for Key Stage 4 students. This hour-long lesson uses the poem “I De Rap Guy” by Benjamin Zephaniah as a springboard into creating poems based on self-identity.
