The Summer Reading Challenge, run by The Reading Agency and delivered by public libraries, offers incentives for children to read six books in six weeks. They can choose their own reading material and progress at their own pace, often with the added encouragement of local schemes to target particular groups. Many public libraries work with schools to ensure maximum participation by children.
