Bookstart provides families with books and information about how to share stories and rhymes with children, at three key stages in a child's development: birth to 12 months; 18 to 30 months; and three to four years.

The programme is run by Booktrust, funded by the government and delivered locally by health visitors, library staff and early years professionals.
