Join Bill Bailey, Anthony Horowitz, Kirsty Young and Andrew Motion to support literacy this World Book Day

4 Mar 2010

Launching today on World Book Day, the National Literacy Trust’s Vote for Literacy campaign urges politicians to prioritise literacy and to adopt policies from our Manifesto for Literacy.

This World Book Day, literacy is more important than ever before. As we approach the 2010 election the country is facing huge changes to the education system and reviews of spending across government. Whichever government is in place after the election, it is crucial that we argue for literacy as a fundamental right. The next government will need to rebuild our economy and to increase opportunities for all young people. Levels of literacy must improve in order to achieve this.
