We run a number of projects and work with a range of professionals to provide support for the development of literacy skills and change lives through literacy.

Our Network 

Our membership Network supports professionals who work in or with schools to raise literacy attainment through:

  • practical resources for the classroom and library
  • exciting CPD opportunities
  • a forum to learn from others.

 

Projects

Books about Town for schools

We are supporting the teaching of whole texts to increase pupils' enjoyment of reading in London schools, with each receiving their own BookBench to design and decorate. 

Books Unlocked

We are supporting prisoners and young offenders to increase their enjoyment and frequency of reading. 

Early Words Together

We work with children's centres to identify families in need of support around early home learning. 

HELLO Programme

Helping Early Language and Literacy Outcomes (HELLO) helps early years experts to improve the communication, language and literacy outcomes of children aged 0-3.

Literacy for Life

Literacy for Life takes a revolutionary approach to improving secondary school language and literacy.

Oxfordshire Gaining Momentum

We are working with Oxfordshire County Council to help secondary schools to target literacy across the whole curriculum. 

Picture the Poet

We are working with the National Portrait Gallery and Apples and Snakes to support the teaching of creative poetry writing at Key Stages 2 and 3.

Premier League Reading Stars

Our reading intervention programme harnesses the motivational power of football to encourage pupils to improve their literacy skills. 

Premier League Reading Stars Cymru

We are working with the Welsh Government to pilot our Premier League Reading Stars programme in Wales in 2014/15, alongside additional training and support.

Words for Work

We unlock young people's speaking and listening skills for future employability. 

Young Readers Programme

We motivate disadvantaged children and their families to read.

Please tell us how you would like to deliver Early Words Together. We will then provide you with a no obligation quote for the training and resources you will need.

How will you deliver Early Words Together?

  • Between 30 and 200. If you would like to support more than 200 families, please email ewt@literacytrust.org.uk
  • A minimum of two staff, to attend one day of National Literacy Trust training, arranged by you and held locally. Read more about the content of the training on our FAQ page.
  • Between 1 and 10. For a bespoke quote for over 10 settings, please email ewt@literacytrust.org.uk. Each delivery setting gets 12 months’ membership to the National Literacy Trust Network.
  • Referral partners support programme outreach and can include health, social care, and local charity, community and faith groups.
  • Please allow for a minimum of six weeks for a training date to be confirmed.
