System requirements for accessing online challenges
In order for pupils to access the online challenges (particularly the video content), you need to ensure your school network can display Flash films, and you have a broadband connection that can cope with simultaneous downloading of film content by an entire class of users. You should also make sure that school filters do not restrict access to either the Premier League website - www.premierleague.com - or the National Literacy Trust website - www.literacytrust.org.uk.
Having problems?
If you're having problems accessing the challenges, there is a chance that features of your school network are to blame. There are a few simple steps you can take to identify the problem:
- check with your IT coordinator/network manager that the websites of the Premier League and the National Literacy Trust are not being blocked
- check that your system can play Flash Video (may involve opening up port 1935 on your firewall to RMTP traffic)
- check that your system can display Google forms
- check that your system is not being overloaded by multiple video windows playing simultaneously (may be worth checking that individual pupils don't have many windows open all attempting to play videos)
It may also be the case that your school, and or authority, uses SQUID, which may block the films on the Premier League website. To circumnavigate this, we have created alternative links, which can be followed from the individual player's film pages. Look for a link to the right of the (non-playing) film:

If you still cannot identify the problem, please let us know. Email plrs@literacytrust.org.uk, including as much of the following information as possible, so that we can investigate:
- a screenshot of the error message
- where it occured - which challenge and webpage address
- which web browser you're using - e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari
- your operating system e.g. Windows, Mac OS X, Android
- the time and date the problem occurred
