Practical idea - Music and families with EAL

18 Dec 2009

Use music as the common medium for children and parents/carers to join in shared activities.  Try featuring lots of songs and rhymes with actions and clapping which are easy to pick up on and help all families join in.

Encourage parents to recall and share songs and rhymes in home languages with their children. You could try learning these songs too and teaching them to the rest of the children at your setting.
