Practical idea - School library: Access

23 Feb 2011

Ideally your library should be open during the school day (including lunchtime) and beyond the school day, providing reading opportunities for children, staff and parents. This is, of course, easier said than done, as your school library’s opening hours will be closely linked with staff capacity. If your school employs a part-time librarian, and the library is closed for part of the day, you could train older children, parents, a TA or local volunteers to run the operational routines of the library, allowing for the library to be open for longer.
