Practical idea - Book dating: KS2 and secondary school
18 Feb 2011
Book dating, or an alternative name depending on the age group you are working with, is an event where each pupil is asked to bring in their favourite book. Pupils then have one minute to convince their partner why they should read their book before they move on to the next pupil. At the end of the event, pupils vote for the books that they were convinced by and the top ten reads list is compiled. You could create a poster or a calendar of the pupils promoting their favourite read.
Read a case study about how one school used a speed-dating activity to get teens and adults excited about discussing books.
