All Party Parliamentary Group on Literacy

Our All Party Parliamentary Literacy Group launched in November 2011. Chaired by Gavin Barwell MP, with Stephen McPartland MP and Lord Knight as Vice Chairs, the group is committed to improving public understanding of the vital importance and impact of literacy. We hope that by raising the profile of the literacy mission, we will be able to encourage individuals in most need of support to understand the importance of literacy in their lives and to inspire them to overcome their own anxieties or prejudices about literacy.

It will ensure parliamentary knowledge and support for the latest research, policy and best practice in the field of literacy.
