Partners in Literacy
Research shows that parents, carers and the home environment are crucial in developing children’s literacy. The National Literacy Trust believes that multi-agency partnerships and joined up delivery of services can have a significant impact on literacy outcomes.
Through Partners in Literacy, the Trust is working with local authorities to develop a strategic and coordinated approach to literacy, with a focus on literacy in the home. The aim of the project is to support more families to promote literacy in the home by engaging a wide range of local partners and services. The project has a bias towards families for whom improved literacy can make the biggest difference – disadvantaged families and those with children aged birth to five. Partners in Literacy does not provide resources for professionals or for families.
