Whole-school auditing tools

primary sl audit screenshotOur audits are useful tools for you to review your current literacy provision. They provide an overview of the areas where you have developed strong provision and also those where there is room for more focus. You receive a generated report based on the answers that you have given, which includes practical ideas and useful strategies for moving forward.

Pupil profiling tool (reading)

pupil profiling tool screenshotThis easy-to-use tool enables you to create a profile for a specific pupil, based on that child’s characteristics. It then provides you with a menu of tailored strategies and ideas for encouraging him or her to enjoy reading more. The tool works best with children from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.

Boys' literacy - self-reflection tool

If you are reviewing your literacy strategies and activities and how boys' needs are met as part of your approach, you may like to use our self reflection tool. It asks a series of simple questions and is divided up into the following categories:
- Creating the right culture
- Creating a structured learning environment in lessons

This audit helps you to review and evaluate your book corner including the type of books it contains, the extent to which it is used by children, staff and other adults, as well as the overall impression it makes. Having completed the audit, you will be able to access a report giving advice and practical ideas on how to develop and improve your book corner.

National Literacy Trust annual research: extra benefits for network members
