New year, new futures for children
11 Jan 2013
Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year? Maybe you decided to get more healthy and active? Or to contribute something to your wider community? Or just to meet new people? Whatever it is, the National Literacy Trust can help. On Sunday 24 March we will be hosting the first ever Where’s Wally? fun run in Victoria Park, London.
We need people to walk, run or jog 5K or 10K to help us give children a route out of poverty. You could help children like eight-year-old Mia. She lives on a tough estate and her parents are illiterate so there are no books at home or stories at bedtime. Thanks to the National Literacy Trust, Mia has become the first reader in her family. She has been to our storytelling events and chosen books to keep. As she gets older we will give her the skills she needs to get a job.
This year we need your help to work with 38,000 children like Mia. Make your New Year’s resolution count.
