Booktrust launches new campaign aimed at over 60s
20 Jan 2010
The campaign will launch on 8 February and is designed to “encourage people over 60 to discover new authors and genres, to try a range of creative writing activities and to interact with others online to share stories and book reviews.”
Writers including Val McDermid, Pam Ayres and Andrew Motion have contributed to a Bookbite magazine, with 100,000 copies distributed into people’s homes via age positive charity WRVS and 175 other organisations, including Age Concern and local library services.
Viv Bird, Booktrust Chief Executive, said:
The launch of the Bookbite project is a very exciting development for Booktrust, as it gives us the opportunity to encourage a whole new audience who may have more leisure time, to find a good read, explore creative writing and go online.
Bookbite is funded by the Transformation Fund at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.
