National Literacy Trust launches major speaking and listening survey
4 May 2010
We are launching a new survey investigating young people’s attitudes towards speaking and listening as well as more general communication skills, the first major survey of its kind, and we are looking for schools to participate.
The survey will explore young people’s views about speaking and listening, how important they feel these skills are, why they should bother with and what they think employers, society and universities and schools expect from them in terms of communication skills. It will also explore the degree to which they are confident using different communication skills and the extent to which they think they are a good at speaking and listening.
The online survey will run from 14 June to 3 July 2010 and we are looking for 8 to 16-year old boys and girls from a variety of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds to take part in the research. Participating schools will need to provide pupils with access to the online survey and will be provided with a school-specific report and data that will outline some of the basic findings for their school.
If your school is interested in participating in this exciting new survey, please see here for further details about how to get involved.
