Workplace literacy initiative too short to improve skills

Professor Wolf of King's College London, who led the study, says she believes the courses are not long enough, as school children receive over 200 hours of direct instruction every term, over many years, where as participants on the Skills for Life courses receive an average of 30 hours teaching.
The study also found that employers were not concerned about their employees' literacy skills and that one of the broader benefits of the course was that it boosted workers' confidence.
