Should we leave babies to cry?

She writes that she dislikes the method because babies cannot be trained at a young age, and that “a mother's natural instincts tell her to go to a crying baby”.
Dr. Stoppard comments that stress in infancy caused by leaving a young baby to cry can result in “high levels of stress hormones that dampen the formation of a healthy brain”. She advises mothers to hug their child, pick up the child when it wants to be picked up and put her down when she is ready for sleep.
