Value this unique care

12 Mar 2009

Smethers went on to descibe how although Grandparents Plus welcomes the positive findings about daycare, the organisation questions the "way the research has been presented to claim that grandparents' care is 'bad' for children."

Smethers goes on to say that: "it is not all about being 'school-ready'. We are preparing children for life, not just for school." Grandparents Plus agrees that more can be done to encourage grandparents to make use of children's centres so that the children they care for will have the chance to mix with other children in the way the research suggests. However, they posit the real question to be, "why we do not recognise and value grandparents' contribution in the way that we should?"
