Firm Foundations campaign seeks to promote the need for investment and quality in early years settings
29 Jan 2010
The campaign seeks to build on the developments that have happened in early years in recent years and its success is dependent on a partnership approach. As a result, the Early Childhood Unit are calling for committed partner organisations to sign up to support the campaign and take whatever action they can to make a noise about early years.
The key messages of the campaign are as follows:
• The need for a universal entitlement to high quality early years education and childcare for all young children
• The importance of real partnership with parents and families in educating and caring for young children
• The need for consolidation and continued improvement of recent developments in early years education and care (including the Early Years Foundation Stage and children’s centres)
• The need for greater investment in early years education and care to reduce inequality and tackle disadvantage
• The importance of developing a good quality early years workforce through improving training, pay and conditions
More information about the campaign can be found on the Firm Foundations website.
