The BBC’s #LoveToRead weekend

31 Oct 2016

BBC Love Red SWe’re delighted to be a partner for the BBC’s #LoveToRead campaign, which is culminating in the #LoveToRead weekend on 5 & 6 November 2016.

The #LovetoRead campaign aims to celebrate the joy of reading for pleasure and inspire the nation with programmes about great authors and their work.

Throughout the campaign, the BBC have run programmes dedicated to reading, including The Books That Made Britain series and one-off special The School That Got Teens Reading.

The BBC’s radio stations have launched book clubs in partnership with local libraries, and in October and November there has been a nationwide social media campaign, calling on the nation to share book recommendations. We've been contributing by sharing our colleagues' favourite reads.

Throughout the #LoveToRead weekend, the BBC will be encouraging everyone to put aside some time and curl up with a book. Keep an ear out, as this weekend all BBC presenters across local, regional and network stations and channels will be signing off their programmes with their reading recommendations.

On BBC Radio 4 this weekend, James Naughtie will be devoting his monthly book club to the book he would most like to share with listeners, while BBC Radio 3 will be asking listeners and presenters to share their recommendation of the best novels about music.

If you're a parent looking for ways to encourage your child to read for enjoyment, visit our Words for Life website, which is full of helpful tips and fun activities. This month, we’re celebrating the joys of reading non-fiction, with book lists, giveaways, craft activities and more.
