New Resource for Primary: From Book to Screen 'The Secret of Moonacre'

Film Education, in association with Warner Bros. Studios, has produced a free online resource for primary teachers based on the new film The Secret Of Moonacre. From the director of The Bridge To Terabithia, the film is based on the classic children’s book, The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge.

Suitable for Key Stage 2 Literacy, the interactive resource allows your class to compare the way the filmmakers and the author tell stories. The online resource includes extracts from the book alongside the equivalent scene in the film.

The Secret of Moonacre is an enchanting tale of magic and adventure. It follows the quest of thirteen-year-old orphan, Maria Merryweather (Dakota Blue Richards – The Golden Compass), who is sent away to live with her uncle, Sir Benjamin (Ioan Gruffudd), in the mysterious Moonacre Manor. There Maria meets a stable of wonderful characters and fantastical beasts, but also uncovers the dark truth of an ancient curse. Film Education’s interactive website allows teachers and pupils to compare the film and book and includes extracts alongside the equivalent scenes from the film.

Released in UK: 6 February 2009
