Gala dinner raises essential funds for literacy
23 Jan 2013
We held our first gala dinner on Tuesday 22 January at Pearson's building on the Strand. Hosted by comedian Miles Jupp, the event was organised to raise vital funds for literacy. Nine author ambassadors attended, including Charlie Higson, Anthony Horowitz, Ruth Rendell and Lauren Child.
During the meal both a live and silent auction were held, giving guests the opportunity to win exclusive prizes. Items
included a visit to Duran Duran’s studio, a drawing of the winner by Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler, dinner cooked by Levi Roots, a library makeover for a school of the winner’s choice as well as limited edition signed books, prints and illustrations.
We would like to thank Miles Jupp, all of our author ambassadors and everyone that donated prizes. Many thanks to Pearson for hosting the event and providing catering.
