Reggae Reggae Sauce creator Levi Roots to inspire students to improve their communication skills

6 Dec 2012

Levi profileEntrepreneur Levi Roots, who has enjoyed huge success with his Reggae Reggae Sauce, met Lambeth pupils today as he was unveiled as an ambassador for our charity. Levi is supporting us to improve young people's communication skills for employability.

Lambeth councillor Aminu Ademola and 15 Year 9 pupils from The Elmgreen School, Norwood School and Lilian Baylis Technology School were introduced to our Words for Work programme which provides an innovative way for schools and businesses to join forces and build young people’s skills for employability. Volunteers from business are partnered with secondary schools within their community to develop students’ speaking and listening skills through a range of workshops.

Levi spoke passionately about the importance of communication and his commitment to his local community, saying:

Communication skills are so important. I was terrible at school, but if I’d had that role model to help me learn to listen to others and be able to voice my opinions I would have been in a much better place. I want to give children in Lambeth those opportunities, to give something back to the community.

If you would like to learn more, our conference on 15 March 2013 focuses on speaking and listening skills.
