20 signed football prizes given out to Premier League Reading Stars winners

Premier League Reading Stars is a National Literacy Trust project that harnesses the power of football to encourage pupils to enjoy reading.

In 2012, 20 high-profile players, representing their respective Premier League clubs, challenged students across the UK to complete online literacy challenges, delivered by the players themselves. These challenges included exclusive access to video footage of the players in which they read aloud from their chosen texts (books, magazines or websites) and set the children their literacy tasks. Answering questions about the text correctly won the children unique rewards, but also gave them the chance to win unique Premier League prizes.

Of the thousands of young people who took part, 20 students were randomly selected as winners and won signed prizes such as shirts and boots from the clubs. The programme will continue next year with more exciting challenges ahead.
