Better education makes for greater life satisfaction

According to research by the Office of National Statistics better educated people are more likely to be satisfied with their lives than less well educated people. While not saying that education always leads to happiness, the study also found that the better educated were more likely to think the things they did were worthwhile. Those who studied part-time through evening classes or others ways were equally more likely to describe their well-being as high.

The study included a range of other statistics showing that Britain has generally become better-educated over time. The report also highlighted the fact that in England, three-quarters of children from the richest families achieved five good GCSE passes (A* to C) compared to only one in five from the poorest homes.
