One in Six run raises over £14,000

Two National Literacy Trust m
embers of staff, Jim Sells and Jack Sallabank, who ran 16 miles a day for ten days in October, raised over £14,000 for the charity. The One in Six Run, named in recognition of the one in six people in the UK who struggle with their literacy, visited a different school or library on each day and saw Jack and Jim visit locations across England, Scotland and Wales. Included in the total is £3,270 raised by the schools visited during the run.
Jim said:
The children we met were inspired by the authors and celebrities who supported our events each day, and were motivated and enthused when they joined in with the run. It goes to show that sport and literacy are definitely a winning combination! These pupils deserve our greatest thanks for the fundraising they did and for being the motivation to get us through the 160 miles. Also a big thanks to all of our funders and fundraisers, in particular Sketchers, Macmillan Education, Walker Books and the Premier League.
