Red the Robot competition winners announced

19 Oct 2011

We are delighted to announce that the winners of the Red the Robot photo competition are Tops Day Nursery in Bournemouth and Amelie and Sylvie from Stockton-on-Tees. They were two of many who submitted photos of themselves having fun sharing a story and have won a whole host of Red the Robot goodies.

Boscombe NurseryTop Day Nursery, winner of our competition for schools and settings, sent in a wonderful photo that showed really creative storytelling. Helen Jenkins, Nursery Supervisor at Tops Day Nursery explains how they made the story come alive for the children: “In this picture Rachael (staff member) is reading a story called Walking Through The Jungle. The children are using instruments to join in with the noises in the story and to make animal noises too. We try to make stories interesting in our nursery by including all children and using props.”

Amelie and SylvieThe entry submitted by the winner of the competition for families, featuring Amelie and Sylvie, was chosen because of the welcoming story-sharing environment that had been created. Amelie and Sylvie’s mother told us that the news of the competition results had been met with great enthusiasm by the girls: “The girls are very excited about winning the competition. They think that Red the Robot will be a lot of fun!  Like many of their friends, Amelie and Sylvie are familiar with technology and are comfortable using it. Sylvie is just embarking on her reading journey, so I think she will benefit the most from using Red. Red the Robot will be a welcome addition to our conventional methods of learning!"

Tops Day Nursery win a talking Red the Robot® prize package with books, cards and puppets with a prize value of £500, and Amelie and Sylvie win a Red the Robot® of their own, with puppet and voice recorder (value £50).
