Haven to give away nearly 50,000 books
20 Jul 2011
Haven Holidays has teamed up with the National Literacy Trust's Words for Life campaign to give away nearly 50,000 books – to children on their 35 family holiday parks.
Every family arriving on a Haven park on the weekend of 20 August will receive a goody bag containing four books for children – including titles such as Amber the Orange Fairy, How to Train Your Dragon and a choice of popular Where’s Wally? titles as well Ranger's Apprentice, which is aimed at 9 to 11-year-olds.
The initiative is designed to encourage a love of reading amongst children and follows a similar successful giveaway in 2009.
Children who develop a love of reading at an early age get a head start with language skills which are invaluable for their future. Holidays provide the environment and quality time with parents and carers that will allow kids the space and freedom to discover the enjoyment of reading.
